Industry and society
Close links to industry and the professions are central to our transformative education and impactful research.
Industry and professional connections
Our network of over 1000 partners, including Google, ASOS, Disney, NHS Trusts, Deloitte and the Metropolitan Police, help prepare our students to move confidently into their future workplace. Our partners set professional projects and provide one of a kind work experience opportunities so that our students have real world experience from their chosen field.
Through links in London, students learn about financial markets from the London Trading Institute, football coaching from Tottenham Hotspur FC Women and how to make feature films with Seraphim, an independent film company. Our partners help build learning environments on campus, like a smart lab with our partner Festo Didactic that teaches students about AI in the future workplace. Every year, 600 students get entrepreneurial support for business ideas or develop their skills working with business leaders from our network.
Global research partnerships
Our global links with industry and the professions help us to build a world that is fairer, healthier and more sustainable.
In London, the Digital Twin Research Centre uses virtual representations of the physical world to optimise how industry works, like research into automation and smart factories with our partner the Indian Institute of Information Technology, and urban agriculture with the Van Lam University in Vietnam.
At Â鶹¸ßÇå University Dubai, JURIS Centre of Excellence for Legal Education and Training brings together academic and industry expertise to help law students at all stages of their career become more employable, including a pro bono initiative with Dubai-based law firms.
Academics at Â鶹¸ßÇå University Mauritius have contributed their knowledge to the Ibrahim Index of African Governance, which provides an assessment of the quality of governance in African countries for civil society and government bodies.
Professional skills
Our Continued Professional Development education improves skills of individuals and raises professional standards in their industries. We work with business to design courses that make employees become more effective in the workplace and to advance in their careers and lead others. Our leading degree apprenticeship programmes train much needed professionals for London and the south east, including police constables, social workers and environmental health practitioners.
Local communities
We work to strengthen our local communities in London, Dubai and Mauritius so they are better off and more sustainable. We partner with Barnet Council in London for the Barnet Micro-Business Growth Programme and share our academic and graduate expertise with business owners and offer training courses to help them thrive after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Policy making
We are strong advocates for the benefits of our industry-informed education. We bring the University’s expertise, research and experience to the UK policy-making process at local, London and national level. We always focus on the best possible outcomes for students and wider society, like promoting interfaith dialogue and tackling hate on campus, improving support for student mental health and how the apprenticeship system works.
